Kombu Dashi Soup

Kombu is a Japanese seaweed and used extensively as a main ingredients to make dashi, a soup stock. You can either buy Kombu as dried powder called dashi kombu or in ‘pickle’d from kmow as ‘su kombu’ or as a shredded and dried kombu also know as Oboro kombu/Shiraga kombu. You can eat it fresh sashimi. To prepare dip a strip of dried kombu in water and boil it to make dashi. This softens the kombu and you can eat it. You can also pickle Kombu sweet flavoring and eat it as a strip with green tea as a noon snack like Japanese do.


Buy some Wakame and mix it miso soup or add it in sunomono salads. Wakame is sold in dried form and before using it, soak it in water and get it soft

Nori :

Nori is a seaweed sheet. They are thin, cut and dried. You can see nori sheets when you eat sushi. Nori is also used in rice along with the suhi (balls)

Seaweed Salad :

You can make a delicious salad with Organic romaine lettuce, crushed wakame, dried/crushed arame, and sesame seeds. There are several Japanese Salad recipes that you can get from Japanese cook books.
